FNRS (Wallonia and Brussels)
The purpose of the Fund for Scientific Research (F.R.S.–FNRS) is to develop fundamental scientific research within the framework of initiatives presented by researchers. It encourages the production and development of knowledge by both supporting individual researchers, and also by financing research programmes conducted in the laboratories and facilities mostly located in the universities of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
The Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) is the agency that supports ground-breaking fundamental and strategic research at the universities of the Flemish Community. The FWO also stimulates cooperation between the Flemish universities and other research institutes.
WBI (Wallonia and Brussels)
Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI) is the body in charge of international relations for Wallonia-Brussels. It is the instrument of the international policy conducted by Wallonia, the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and the French Community Commission of the Brussels-Capital Region.
The Belgian American Educational Foundation Inc. is the leading independent philanthropy fostering higher education of deserving Belgians and Americans through its exchange Fellowship program.
The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.
UGent – Harvard University – Strategic Institutional Partnership
The scope of this Strategic Institutional Partnership between UGent and Harvard University is to strengthen multi-dimensional collaborations, provide a platform for new bottom-up initiatives and enhance outbound and inbound mobility of researchers from both universities. This seed money can be used for travel, accommodation, and operating costs (not equipment, only consumables) to achieve preliminary data to increase potential of subsequent grant opportunities.
First Entreprise International (Wallonia OUT)
The First Enterprise International Program allows Wallon companies to hire a researcher to conduct research and training through an internship at a research center established in a member state of the European Union or in a research center established outside the European Union within the framework of a Wallonia – host country cooperation agreement.
Brains for Brussels (Brussels IN)
Brains for Brussels supports researchers setting up in the Brussels-Capital Region.
BEWARE (Wallonia IN)
BEWARE Fellowships aims to attract 75 qualified researchers to the Walloon companies where they will spend half of their stay while the other half will be at a university, a university college or a research centre.
